US-South Korea Relation under Trump 2.0

2025 TriForum·TV Chosun Special Webinar

JAN 23 (Thr) / 9:00 AM (KST)

2025 presents South Korea and the United States with several challenges, some new and some old.

From his first day in office, President Trump is expected to call on South Korea to participate in US-led supply chain restructuring, renegotiations over defense burden-sharing and efforts to counter rising competition from China.

Meanwhile, South Korea continues to face political turmoil following the December 3 martial law incident, repeated impeachment proceedings, and the unprecedented arrest and detention of a sitting president.

This ongoing political crisis has fueled concerns about the so-called ‘Korea Passing,’ a situation where the country risks alienation from the U.S. and the international community.

In turn, we will discuss how the US-ROK alliance and bilateral relations might endure these challenges under Trump 2.0. We will also examine critical issues, ranging from national security to trade, and North Korea to China.
